Maybe you have found just the perfect car for yourself and your family, but your country does not sell it. You might have to find it online and purchase it like that, but just how much will it cost for you to import it into your country? Well, you can always ask Dazmac for the cost of shipping car from Australia to New Zealand.
Shipping to New Zealand
Every year, more and more cars get shipped outside the country, and that is simply because countries, like Japan or Germany, have a lot of car models made every year. Well, if you found a dream car and it happens to be in Australia, there are a couple of things you need to know about shipping the car to New Zealand.
Make sure the vehicle you purchase is eligible for the New Zealand roads
Some duty concessions are required when you ship your new car to New Zealand if that is a personal vehicle. By following the requirements from the customs in New Zealand you will be eligible for their criteria. You can find more information about this here.
The vehicle will be eligible for tax and duty exemption if the motor vehicles are imported by a person who:
- Has resided in or been domiciled outside of New Zealand for over 21-months from his/her arrival.
- Has arrived to New Zealand and on that date, the vehicle is imported with a document that authorizes the residence in New Zealand.
- Has personally used and owned a vehicle out of the country for at least one year, before the date of the New Zealand departure or the date on which the vehicle will be given up for shipping.
- Will give concession reference 80 undertaking, which means that the undertaking will be written in the required form by the customs officer meaning that if the relevant foods are sold or disposed within two years from when they have been imported, the person who signed the undertaking will have to pay Customs.
This can all be done if you simply hire a great provider to do the job, so make sure you undergo an expert quarantine service at Dazmac Logistics. On the other hand, together with customs, you will also need to make sure that the vehicle is compliant to be driven on the roads of New Zealand and compliant with the environmental legislation.
When your vehicle is imported to the desired country, in this case, New Zealand, it will then be checked by the Biosecurity. Usually, you will be charged between $400 and $1000, depending on the weather and if your vehicle will need treatment.
Every provider ships vehicles in a different way
Be prepared to do the paperwork
As you could have guessed, there is a lot of paperwork that goes into the process of importing a vehicle to another country, and depending on the place, the paperwork will change. So, if you do not know much about this, you might be better off hiring a professional to help you out, as they will know all the prices and the documentation you will need beforehand.
If you want to ship your new car to New Zealand, you might also think about shipping some goods inside the car, right? Well, it is ok to put some of the personal items in the vehicle, but those items need to be listed to Customs and Biosecurity before the inspection takes place, otherwise, your car might not be shipped and the personal items will be taken away.
